There are many ways to get involved in the carnival from putting an entry into the carnival procession; helping to marshal at our events; sponsoring or donating items for our fund raising efforts or even joining the committee. We welcome any and all contributions from our local community.
We’re a small group of volunteers trying to do good for our community: raising funds for local good causes, and putting on events such as Carnival Week, Christmas Market - and anything else we can do to bring joy to all within our neighbourhood.

We’ve compiled some FAQ’s that hopefully answer your questions! If you have queries we haven’t covered, please get in touch and we’d be delighted to advise you (and update our FAQ's!).
We need an application form submitted with the details of your entry. We need this information to plan the procession accordingly, and you might win a prize in our various categories.

As long as the driver is insured for the vehicle they are driving/towing: no further insurance is needed.
Walking entries do not require insurance.
Floats/towed floats are requested to line up at Bradley Bends(See here) for judging from 4pm on the day of the procession.
There will be Marshals to direct you. The procession will be held on Saturday 2nd August 2025 between 6pm and 8pm.
Walking (or prams/cycles, i.e.: anything but floats/towed vehicles) just turn up outside the Distillery/The Bell(See here) at 5pm

During events that require road closures, marshals stand at closures and help to direct any traffic that have missed ‘road closed’ signs towards their destination.
You’ll be stationed in pairs, alongside an experienced marshal and training will be given during a short meeting prior.
We also require marshals for other events, such as The Grand Summer Fete, you can assist in directing members of the public; being a point of contact in case of queries; selling raffle tickets and helping to tidy up after events have finished.
Nothing - apart from having a friendly attitude!
High-visibility jackets are provided, and we try to enlist more than enough marshals to allow for loo breaks/joining in of festivities!
You simply need to wear clothing appropriate for the weather and any other items for you own comfort.
No. We ask for just a few hours, and you’re welcome to bring a camping chair!
For longer events, we always look to have enough people to allow frequent breaks. The more people who can assist with marshalling, the easier it is for everyone.
